Full Description:
Abiathar Camp, New York, to Carleton. Memorial in respect of his large family and sickness, his circumstances are so reduced that he cannot leave his place with honour, and wishes to sail to St John's [Newfoundland] in three days. Further, that he was a resident [of Connecticut], has suffered every abuse and was a prisoner for three years. He is penniless and distressed and pleads for an adavance of money, a quarter or half of his annual salary. He is recommneded by Jeremiah Leaming.
