Full Description:
John Allen, New Jersey to Carleton, a Petition. A loyal refugee from Bergen, New Jersey who was granted £2 8s annually since 1779. Has been told this allowance is to be discontinued (as he was no longer on the list). Is due to embark for Port Roseway with his wife and five children and cannot afford necessities; 'cannot command as much money as would purchase either of them a pair of shoes'. Begs his usual allowance.
