Full Description:
[Carleton] to Brigadier-General Fox. New York. Number 7. Acknowledges previous letter. Will observe from former letters that sending troops to the River St Croix is not approved of. If it is found that a corps of 'negroes' is necessary, the numbers mentioned in Lieutenant-Colonel Morse's proposal are to be enrolled for public service. Mr T A Coffin is to proceed to Halifax on the evacuation of New York, and in the meantime Mr Winslow is to fill his place until his arrival. Wishes a copy of the proposed distribution of the six regiments to winter in Nova Scotia. Mentions the list of bills drawn which are to be sent to him.
