Full Description:
Henry Van Schaack to the Commander-in-Chief [Carleton]. Water Street, New York. Refers to the memorial delivered on 6 July 1782 and to General Robertson's certificate that his importance and sufferings seemed to recommend him to a higher class than where he stood. That memorial seeming to be lost or mislaid, he inclosed copies of the same, 14 April last. Saw this morning in MacKenzie's office an order of £100 sterling in his favour and with grief and surprise beheld a recall of it. Beseeches a consideration of the matter that he may be enabled to leave for the northern parts of Massachusetts Bay or if not permitted, to remain in Canada.
