Full Description:
Peter Stout, refugee from New Jersey. Affidavit before William Smith that in August 1782 has was taken prisoner by the Americans and confined in Freehold Goal for almost four months. Released on a surety of £1,000 as long as he did not leave the county. Following the declaration of peace he sought a refund of the bond but was thrown in prison, and held in irons until his 'antient' [ancient] mother paid to John Burrows her life interest in his confiscated estate, upon which he was released.
