Full Description:
Alexander Skirvin to Carleton. Memorial. Formerly of the 21st now of the 84th Regiment. Taken prisoner at Saratoga. Escaped from Virginia, July 1779 but was recaptured and detained at Winchester until May 1780. Escaped again and joined a party of Canadians and Indians. Was captured again in August and sent to Fort Pitt and then returned to Winchester. He again escaped. An earlier claim for arrears of pay was examined and sanctioned but he was ordered to leave Charleston before an account could be settled.
