Full Description:
Brigadier-General H E Fox to Carleton. A letter from Halifax stating that the Provincial regiments had been disbanded as per orders. Problems with the disbanding of the Royal Fencible Americans caused by fauly accounts and ineffectual officers, had required a cancellation of warrants to pay until the certificates are produced to satisfy the men's claims and all was well. The Deputy Inspector-General sent to St John's Island to disband the corps there. Problems also with the King's Orange Rangers and their accounts resulting in the arrest of the paymaster, plus an enquiry into clothing claims. It seemed every Provincial Regiment's accounts on duty there had been in so much disarray and such irregularity that they failed to do justice to the men in them, and ineffectual officers didn't help.
