Charles Traver. An account given to William Smith, Chief Justice, that as an inhabitant and freeholder of Charlotte Precinct, in Dutchess County, a province of New York, had been given four weeks to leave but with a wife and eight children, was unable to leave without assistance. Feels the Governor and Magistrates appear afraid of the tyranny of the Committee, and won't protect him or a majority of the Loyalist people from their behaviour.
