Full Description:
[Carleton] to General Haldimand. New York. If he has seen the papers he will be aware of the general temper of the American people and their disinclination to abide by the provisional terms of a treaty by which, at the same time, they gain so much more than they had reason to expect. Hopes Haldimand finds a more equitable disposition in his neighbourhood. Preparations are so well advanced that the evacuation [of New York] may be completed in the course of next month.
