Full Description:
David Colden to Carleton. New York. Intends to remain in the country and not abandon his estates while there seems any hope of restoration but should this fail, hopes his remaining will not preclude him from the compensation designed by Parliament. Will submit an estimate of his estate to the Commissioners and asks Carleton's advice. Has expended all his money and borrowed considerable sums rather than be a burden on the government but now has nothing with which to provide for his family or himself upon the disagreeable events that may take place following Carleton's departure. Asks for an advance of salary to be paid, as his situation may deserve, before Carleton leaves.
