Full Description:
Brigadier-General Fox to Carleton. Halifax. All the troops included in the embarkation returns have arrived except the 33rd Regiment and one transport with the 57th. Had previously written with his ideas of the necessity of posting troops at Annapolis Royal, Cumberland and Fort Howe and that he had sent detachments of recruits to those stations. Although it is only with extreme reluctance that he detains a transport for a single hour, he is so convinced of the expediency of sending troops that he has requested Captain Duncan to allow the transport ships bringing the 37th Foot to land them at Roseway and the 57th at Annapolis and the St John's River. As the post at Cumberland can possibly be reinforced by land, there is no need to detain a transport for that purpose. Asks whether the British-American troops recently disbanded at the St John's River and other places are to be included in the returns for the 165 days' batt and forage ordered for the troops here.
