Full Description:
Lieutenant-Colonel Richard Hewlett to Carleton. Since he last wrote on 29 September he informs Carleton of the arrival of the ship 'Ester'. Also the transport Martha with the Maryland Loyalists and Detachment 2nd Battalion DeLancy's [Brigade] on board having been wrecked on rocks off the Seal Islands between Cape Sables and the Bay of Fundy [Nova Scotia], casualties and survivors listed in enclosed return. Yesterday the 'Bridgewater' arrived, and all the troops on board have been disbanded. Confusion caused by issue of small hatchetts instead of axes.
