Full Description:
Brigadier-General H E Fox, Halifax to Carleton. Writes that Governor Parr has written to him about some cartographic alteratrions arising from a supposed misunderstanding of the territorial boundaries. [Ethan?] Allen has represented to Governor Hancock of Massachusetts, 'that British Loyalists are trespassing on land which according to the treaty belongs to the State of Massachusetts'. In a follow-up speech to the Assembly the Governor submits Allen's testimony for consideration. Fox suggests the British should follow this example as a solution via this method involving commissioners is more conducive to settlement than by military means. He warns against relying on the views of local magistrates who may have vested interests in a complicated and expensive settlement. Finally, he closes by commenting that he is not inclined to interfere in this matter.
