Full Description:
H Van Schaack to Mackenzie. New York, Queen Street No 49. That in a conversation with Carleton he (Van Schaack) had stated that he and his brother David wished to leave New York for Connecticut as British subjects and desired a pass for that purpose. Mentioned to him [Carleton] the great losses they have suffered and sought financial help from Government. Carleton authorised him to make a memorandum of what was requested and to deliver it to Mackenzie. Entreats him to lay the same before Carleton as soon as convenient as they wish to leave town on Saturday or Sunday next.
