Full Description:
Isaac Ogden to Carleton. Friday morning. After Carleton's attention and bounty to his (Ogden's) father and brothers, is almost ashamed to trouble him but the distressed situation of his five young children compels him to. Mrs Ogden accompanies him to England but necessity obliges him to leave the children behind. Is unable to leave them in a situation to receive the education he ought to give them. His debts for support since he has been within British lines are heavy, but his creditors are his friends. Asks for some aid to relieve his present distress and enable him to prepare for his departure on Monday next. Endorsed 'A warrant issued for £50 sterling. By order of the Commander-in-Chief. Signed Fredk Mackenzie, 17 November 1783.
