William Conroy, junior., to Major George Beckwith. New York. Has served during the war as lieutenant in the Prince of Wales's American Regiment and forfeited a property upwards of £3,000 sterling with almost total loss of health and money. Asks a passage to England and that Carleton would order a small part of what Government owes him (for which vouchers attested have already been given to the Board of Claims) so as to redeem his wearing apparel pawned for expenses incurred during his indisposition here, having had neither subsistence nor rations allowed since the troops came here from Charleston. Endorsed 'May apply for a passage at the Adjutant-General's Office. Nothing more can be done' Signed Frederick Mackenzie.
