Full Description:
James McBeth to Carleton. Representation. That he and his little son were two of five people put ashore sick from the 'Minerva' then lying at Governor's Island. That she sailed the next morning by which they lost everything but the clothes they wore. Hopes to get away soon and begs some small trifle to help refit them in such little things as they are in great want of. Says he and his son have passed the Board to go home. Note on back by Major Mackenzie, dated 19 November 1783, 'Cannot be given now'.
