Full Description:
Robert Morris, Ensign 2nd Battalion New Jersey Volunteers, James Boyd, Ensign New York Volunteers and Daniel Elliot, Ensign 1st Battalion De Lancey's Brigade, to Carleton. Memorial. On behalf of themselves and other officers lately appointed to commissions in the British American forces. That since their respective regiments were cleared off up to 24 October they have never received any pay since their appointment; that as they all have more or less subsistence due to them to clear them off up to 24 October they pray that they be permitted to receive pay from the dates of their respective commissions up to that period in common with the rest of the British American forces. Not dated. Endorsed: -'The petitions of all three persons were for commissions that would give them half-pay; no promise was ever made or was it understood they were to receive anything else'. 19 November 1783 O[liver] De Lancey, Adjutant-General.
