Full Description:
Stephen Rapalje to [Carleton]. New York. Petition. Details the circumstances by which Ensign Campbell, 71st Regiment, came by his [i.e. Rapalje's] horse, saddle and bridle; Campbell's response to the demand for either payment or return of the horse; Campbell's evasion in honouring his note for 150½ guineas [£167 16s]. Thinks it proper to lay the matter before Carleton because of the extraordinary circumstances and asks for immediate relief. Encloses Campbell's note.
