Full Description:
Archibald Hamilton to Carleton. On his memorial as lieutenent-colonel of the Queen's County militia, having 27 years loyal service (in Flanders, America and the West Indies) was made prisoner and sent to Philadelphia upon his opposition to the measures of the [Patriot] leaders of the late 'civil war'. Seeks restitution as Sir William Erskine's 71st Regiment was encamped at his farm at Flushing on Long Island (during his absence), causing £400 worth of damage. While in December 1779 his house took fire, and was totally lost owing to the quantity of powder and ammunition belonging to the government there.
