Major-General [Friedrich] Reidesel and Brigadier-General James Hamilton to Major-General Heath. Cambridge. They have read Heath's letter of yesterday to Hamilton together with the copy of the resolutions of the American Congress of 15 October and ask him to reconsider George Washington's letter concerning the movement of the British and allied prisoners of war by marching them 'so many hundred miles in the severe season of winter' and in want of clothing. They also ask that he allow the flag of truce ship to be unloaded and the stores, consisting of blankets, cloth for breeches and leggings, shoes and stockings, delivered to the prisoners, particluarly at Rutland, prior to the order to march. Reference is made to a Mr Geddes being forwarded to Cambridge and a Lieutenant Collier sent to Rhode Island to obtain vessels. A passport is requested for Captain Masters to go as quickly as possible by land to New York with a report on the situation for Clinton.
