Full Description:
Extract of the Minutes of the Council Board held at the Council Chamber, Charlottetown. Sets out the statement of the Commander-in Chief [Phillips Callbeck] in relation to Clinton's order for the discharge of the Island of St John's Volunteers, the letter received by Callbeck from his officers (James Campbell, Captain-Lieutenant, John Stewart, First-Lieutenant and James Curtis, Second-Lieutenant) and the Council's resolution. Present His Honor the Commander-in-Chief, Thomas Wright, Robert Stewart, Mr Chief Justice Stewart and William Nisbett, Councillors. The meeting was adjourned to the following morning when Callbeck declared his interest and withdrew following which the matter was discussed and the hope expressed that their request be granted for the Volunteers to continue.
