Description:
VLF 54 is a 15th-c. parchment codex, its leaves measuring 305 x 210 mm. It comprises 6 quires of 5 bifolia and 1 quire of 1 bifolium, totalling 62 leaves (124 pages). Catchwords are still visible. Written space covers 220 x 130/135 mm (36-37 lines in hard point ruling). The text is written in Littera textualis fere humanistica. Fol. 1r contains a major golden initial, decorated with painted branches. Each new book starts with minor initials in yellow and red, which are similarly decorated. Inscriptions are rubricated, but, apart from the first, are not written by the scribe. This same unknown hand added lemmata and a few (rubricated) comments in the margins. The codex has a 19th-c. cardboard binding, protected by multi-coloured paper. The spine and corners are in parchment.
