Full Description:
Lorentz to Osborn[e]. Staten Island. He sends a statement of the subsistence money required for the Hessian troops for each month, so closely calculated that not a giunea remains for extraordinary expenses. The total sum - April to September- will amount to £52,035 6s. sterling. Thus far he has only received £4546 6s 7d and a note for £453 13s 5d from Barrow. He begs for more to satisfy the troops, one half in guineas and the other in silver because the troops are unwilling to accept Spanish 'rix dolores'. Annexed is an 'Etat General' of subsistence for one month, listing the different companies and regiments. The total sum is £8228. There is also an 'Etat' for the hospital for the same period, amounting to £444 11s.
