Full Description:
Clinton to Haldimand. New York. Monsieur Rochambeau and Monsieur Schifflin having both escaped imprisonment with the rebels, came to New York destitute. Clinton was induced to give them his warrant on the Deputy Paymaster General for 100 guineas each. He therefore begs that directions to the Paymaster in Canada to stop this sum in his hands and surcharge himself with the amount in his account with the Paymaster General. These men take the present opportunity of returning to Canada.
