Welbore Ellis to Carleton. Whitehall. Discussing the transaction referred to in the enclosed memorial of Brigadier-General Browne. Commanded to acquaint Carleton that His Majesty's order's for Browne to come to England were positive and peremptory, and did not allow him to wait for leave from the Commander-in-Chief. That it was not the King's intention that Browne's compliance with these orders should deprive Carleton of those emoluments which he was then in possession of as a military officer.
