Full Description:
Brigadier-General John Campbell to Carleton. Halifax. Number 1. Receipt of previous letter and congratulations on his appointment. Complains that all junior officers have been promoted over him and hopes justice will now be done. Begs to have Major Monk and Mr Bridgham tried by courts martial. Has sent provisions and ammunition for Forts Howe and Cumberland and enquires what is to be done with the 'Howe' and 'Buckram' armed vessels when they have finished their present employment. Lieutentant-Colonel Roger's corps were sent to St John to relieve Hierlihy's five companies. Only one field officer present belonging to the three British regiments in this garrison, and detachment in readiness to embark for the Spanish River. Sends returns.
