Full Description:
Phillip Callbeck to Major-General James Paterson. Halifax. Memorial. That in consequence of orders from General Howe dated 6 February 1776, he raised 85 men as appears by attestations, muster rolls and monthly returns. That the company have been constantly doing duty in the garrison of Charlotte Town, Newfoundland, Spanish River, and as marines on board of armed vessels. That in June last, a detachment of the Kings Rangers under Captain Hayden, arrived at Charlotte Town which Hayden took upon himself to command. Begs to observe that his orders for raising corps are antecedent to those for the Kings Rangers.
