Full Description:
Alexander Thomson to Major-General James Paterson. Pay Office, Halifax. Encloses extracts of letters to Messrs. Harley and Drummond respecting the want of money. Is informed by letters from New York of the scarcity of money there for the supply of the military chest and fears no supply can come to him from there. As he cannot pass any more of his bills at the discount of 5 per cent, and as they will only pass at 10 per cent discount, would propose to try that expedient at once to secure as much as possible before the scarcity increases, unless this is disproved. Sends the enclosed extract relative to the want of money.
