Full Description:
Major-General James Paterson to Carleton. Halifax. Number 8. Transmits the proceedings of a general courts martial held on Captain Alexander McMilland of the King's Rangers. Was obliged to give the Deputy-Paymaster orders to raise £5,000, which could only be done by lowering the exchange to 10%. Begs His Excellency's determination concerning Mr Marshall's memorial. Sends extracts of letters from Campbell relative to Penobscot, with answers returned. Is taking measures to lessen expenses. Owing to the enclosed memorial, he allowed the field officers forage for one horse each. Captain Boyd has to leave to go to New York.
