Full Description:
David Mathews to Major George Beckwith. Sends a memorial of a poor distressed widow whose husband was sent out to the [American army's] Jersey Revolters [i.e. the 1781 mutineers of the Jersey Line] by Sir Henry Clinton and was hanged. Says it is not within his power to do anything for her but as he prevailed upon her husband to go his feelings for the woman lead him to do everything possible for her advantage and asks that her case be taken into consideration
