Full Description:
Carleton to Governor Parr [of Nova Scotia]. New York. Two letters. The first letter is a discussion with regard to the establishments now forming, the need for a stronger frontier and a military post on the River St Croix, and the security and civil uses of the province. How a communication with Canada should be attended to as of great importance. Also that the officers of the Provincial Corps should be entitled to more than mere settlers with regard to the distribution of land as he reckons that not less than 3,000 of them will soon pass into the province. Second letter, Number 37, encloses returns of refugees and troops now embarked for Parr's province, along with one for stores for each place. Also encloses a list of persons to whom he has granted Commissions and mentions the need to issue further supplies to the settlers.
