Full Description:
Lieutenant-Colonel Archibald McArthur to Carleton. St Augustine, Florida. Encloses a return of refugees and 'negroes' who came here with the last fleet when Charleston was evacuated. Anxiously expects a store of provisions. Orders have been received by the Governor from the Secretary of State to make preparations in concert with the officer commanding here, so that the evacuation may be effected within the time limited by the '8th Article'. Lieutenant Smith is sending to the Admiralty a return of the tonnage necessary to remove the stores. Thinks the timber purchased for the magazine will be useful to the garrison that goes to [New] Providence.
