Full Description:
Governor John Parr to Carleton. Halifax. Captain Studholme, commanding at Fort Howe on the St John's River sends intelligence that a number of people from a place called Machias, which is within the boundaries of New England, have moved to Passamaquoddy and possessed themselves of lands between the St Croix River and the Scodie River. Explains that a dispute formerly existed when Mr Bernard was governor of New England as to which of the two rivers was the western limits of this province, and gives Bernard's solution to the problem. Forwards a chart of that country with the rivers and observes that should the land between the two rivers be adjudged within this province, they would be a proper settlement for the disbanded Provincial troops.
