Governor John Parr to Carleton. Shelburne. Has arrived in Port Roseway which he has has renamed, with the district as, Shelburne; has no doubt that it will become the most flourishing town for trade within a short time, as the country will for agriculture. Mr Robertson, the bearer, can give him any particulars he may wish to know. Has previously given his views on the number of Loyalists intending to go to the River St.John; expresses his concerns regarding that area's soil and fertility and the adequacy of good land for those already there. Says that if all the Provincial Corps go, it is certain that there will be insufficient good land which is why he recommended the eastern side of the St Croix River to him. Has given Mr Watson a commission to execute for him with Carleton.
