Full Description:
Brigadier-General Monfort Browne to Carleton. As his rank may be considered only as local and not entitle him to half-pay, asks to be granted a commission as Colonel of the Prince of Wales's American Regiment, having received pay and been mustered as such regularly, when he served under Sir William Howe and since under Carleton's command; that the lack of such a commission would cause him difficulties at home &c. Hopes that, if Carleton sees fit, he may receive his commission before embarking for England which will probably be in the course of eight to ten days. Endorsed: Asks a commission as colonel. Should have been issued by Sir William Howe.
