Full Description:
Robert Gillmor or Gilmore, formerly of New Hampshire now of New York, to Carleton. Memorial. That he is paid a government allowance as a reward for his services during the late war; was [im]personated by an imposter at Mr Coffin's office and thereby fraudulently deprived of £36 10s 0d being his last payment from 24 March to 24 June; that he applied to the Board of Commissioners for Settling Matters of Debt for remedy who minuted the truth of the facts but would not allow formal judgement to be entered agianst the perpetrator who appeared to be very poor and incapable of repaying the money; that in view of the confiscation of his estate in New Hampshire, the distress of himself and his family and his frequent services to government asks for an order to receive the said money at Mr Coffin's office.
