Full Description:
John Ennis to Carleton. Memorial. Is formerly a private soldier in the 21st Regiment. Was taken prisoner at Saratoga on 24 July 1778, but after being in different jails made his escape to North Carolina and joined the 2nd Battalion of the 84th Regiment in February 1781. He would be obliged if Carleton would look into this affair. On the reverse of the document is a note to certify that Ennis has behaved as a good soldier and is signed by Lieutenant MacDonald.
