Description:
VLF 26 is a parchment codex from the second half of the 8th c. or the first half of the 9th c., its leaves measuring 340 x 255 mm. It is constructed of 7 quires of mostly 4 bifolia, totalling 49 leaves (98 pages). Quire signatures are in Roman numerals in the lower margins. The scribe, along with another hand, added a few older glosses in the first part. The fourth part contains Tironian notes, while three 9th-c. hands added a Greek alphabet and two calendars. Written space covers 290/295 x 200/215 mm, divided into 2 columns of 36-37 lines in hard point ruling. Some leaves are missing. The text is written in Littera uncialis and Minuscula carolina. Inscriptions are rubricated. The codex has an 18th-c. cardboard binding protected by multi-coloured paper and a parchment spine.
